50 YEARS OF KEEPING THE TRADITION ALIVE

Square dancing, the MA state folk dance, has been entertaining folks and getting them moving all across the US and beyond for generations.  Many square dance organizations have folded, unable to compete with all that modern society has to offer but one club right here on the North Shore has been keeping the tradition alive for 50 years.  On March 15th, Riverside Squares, the Danvers based club, will celebrate it’s 50th anniversary with a special dance to be held at the beautiful hall at the North Shore Community Baptist Church, 9 Hart St. in Beverly Farms.  Starting at 7:30, the dancers will dance to 3 different callers.  Anyone who would like to see what square dancing is all about can stop by to watch for free.  

The club normally dances at the All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore, 46 Cherry St. in Danvers, MA.  They offer 15 week class sessions twice a year, in September and January, on Wednesday nights.  Once again, folks are free to stop in to watch.  Anyone who would like to be notified prior to the start of the September class can leave their contact information during their visit or call 978-774-8159.
