HRMS/Food Pantry Thanksgiving Food Drive

The Holten-Richmond Thanksgiving
Food Drive for the Danvers People to People Food Pantry, which I've organized and coordinated for the past 14 years, was held
Nov 4 -Nov 8.  The weather cooperated this year and the outpour of food
was absolutely amazing!  The enthusiastic Student Council, Guidance
Department (Christine Purcell, Jill Weeks, Lindsay dos Santos, and
Kathy Bishop), and student body did a fabulous job and everyone had a
blast!
This year was one of the best ever!!!  We, at the pantry, received a
whopping 2,293 lbs of food!!  Last year we raised 820 lbs; however, we
experienced the hurricane the first two days of that drive.  We
certainly don't need to worry about fulfilling turkey dinners this
year! The wonderful teachers and staff also hold their own turkey drive
for the pantry. This year they are also holding a weekly "dress-down"
day, of which the money raised will go toward gift certificates to
donate to our food pantry clients during the holidays!

The Student Council was great and had fun weighing the food and
carrying it out to the truck for delivery to the pantry.  Barbara Crean
and my husband Chuck Bray from the pantry were on the spot, once again
this year, helping the kids load Chuck's pickup with all the food.

The class in each grade with the most weight in non-perishable food won
a Munchkin/juice breakfast.

Here are the winning homerooms:

Grade 6 Mrs. Nock

Grade 7 Mr. Chace

Grade 8 Mrs. Black and Mrs. Barrett (a tie)

I have attached a photo of the Student Council for the newspaper.
