60 MPH Wind Gusts, Flooding Possible as Thunderstorm Headed Toward Danvers

A severe thunderstorm may be headed toward Danvers.

A severe thunderstorm is headed toward Danvers on Tuesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Danvers and much of the surrounding area of the North Shore at 3:38 p.m. The warning runs until 4:30 p.m.

The weather service said that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour was located near Andover at 3:47 p.m. and headed east at 35 mph.

The storm were also dropping rain at a rate of an inch an hour, which could produce minor flooding.

“Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds and large hail; Go inside to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business,” the weather service said. “If driving be prepared for low visibility and do not drive through flooded roads.”
