9-Year-Old Gymnast Strikes the Perfect Balance

Third-grader to compete in state competition second year in a row.

This week's Whiz Kid is 9-year-old Christina Reidy.

Christina is a member of The Middleton Yellow Jackets Gymnastics Team, and has been involved in the sport since 2007,  when she was in preschool.

At just 9 years old, she has proven to be a standout in gymnastics and at her young age has countless titles and trophies in her collection.

Christina placed first in the Lucky Leprechaun Meet in 2008, and in 2009 placed first in the state competition in her routine on bars. She will compete in the Little Bigger Competion this weekend, then she will be competing in the State Competition again the first weekend in March.

Whiz Kid's School: Smith School, third grader

Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Placed first in the states last year, has qualified to compete again in March.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?):  "Practice and hard work," said Christina, with a big smile. "She's just so dedicated, she loves it," her mother Lina explained."She has the ability, but she has the passion for it too. She's willing to practice, but she's also very ambitious in everything she does, even in school -- that's just her personality."
