American Idol Performer Kicks Off Danvers Family Festival With Hooray for Hollywood

Danvers Family Festival kicks off with Hooray for Hollywood on Friday night, June 20 at Danversport Yacht Club.

The event will include American Idol performer John Stevens. 

The Danvers Family Festival describes the event this way: 

"Remember when our images of Hollywood royalty were in black-and-white? When Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz were competing the same year for the Oscars? Televisions did not exist, only movie screens. Europe was moving towards war and Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the leader of the free world. Well, the Danvers Family Festival Committee invites you back to that time by inviting you to the 2014 festival kick-off event, Hooray for Hollywood. Walk the red carpet and enter into a re-created 1940s nightclub where paparazzi cameras flash away as one famous star arrives after the next. Swing dance to a big band and have an opportunity to appear in a black-and-white photo of your own with Clark Gable or John Wayne."

The cost is $65 per person with hors d’oeuvres and a full dinner served. Table reservations are strongly encouraged. You can purchase tickets on Friday nights at Sam and Joe's Restaurant on Water Street from 7 to 9 p.m. or at North Shore Bank on Elm Street on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon.
