Attorneys Will Present Estate Planning Discussion

Submitted by Curley Law Firm:

On Wednesday, June 4, the Danvers Senior Center will offer a free presentation by Certified Elder Law Attorneys Patrick Curley and Lucy Budman entitled “Spring Cleaning for Your Estate Planning.” The presentation will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Danvers Senior Center, located at 25 Stone St., Danvers.

If you have a health crisis, are you prepared? Do you have the Estate Planning documents required to get the care you need and protect your family and your assets? If your loved one becomes incapacitated, how will you pay their bills or protect their assets?

“Our goal is for attendees to learn what steps they can take to answer these questions with a confident ‘Yes’,” said Attorney Budman.

“We decided on the ‘Spring Cleaning’ theme because asset protection planning is something that every family should have in place, said Attorney Curley.  “Whether you have done some estate planning in the past or no plan at all, we encourage you to mark your calendars to tackle this important subject at the presentation.  Unfortunately, we see time and again that procrastination puts at risk what folks have worked so hard to save.  We want to make it easy for seniors and their families to confirm the facts and to walk away from the presentation with specific legal strategies they can use to ensure that they and their assets are protected.”

Topics will include MassHealth and the five year look back period for nursing home benefits, Trusts, avoiding Probate, and avoiding planning mistakes that can lead to unnecessary taxes – especially upon the ultimate sale of the family home.
