Danvers Bakery Making Sweet Memories for Boston Marathon Bombing Survivor

Cakes for Occasions is making the cake for Reading residents Marc Fucarile and Jennifer Regan.

Danvers business Cakes for Occasions is making the wedding cake for a special event this week.

Yes, every wedding is special, but this one offers even more meaning. The Danvers bakery is making the cake for Reading residents Marc Fucarile and Jennifer Regan.

Fucarile lost his right leg, broke his back and was suffered multiple injuries throughout his body after one of the bomb blasts at the Boston Marathon last year. He spent months at Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Center and went through two dozen operations and dozens of outpatient procedures.

By his side throughout his rehabilitation has been his girlfriend, whom he will wed at The Commonwealth in Back Bay on Thursday.

Wedding planner Gracie Lou Events assembled an “all-star team” of businesses to offer wedding services to a “deserving couple that was affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy.”

The businesses, including Nicole Chan Photography, Promessa Films, Persona Jewelry, Bella Bridesmaids, Rentals Unlimited, DJ Raffi music production, Megan Chapin Calligraphy, Mimosa Fresh Floral Design, Demiche Beaute, Cookie Creatives by Jennifer, Shutterbooth New England and Danvers’ own Cakes for Occasions, are donating more than $40,000 worth of services in the Love Runs Through Boston campaign.

Cakes for Occasions met with the bride and groom to discuss the cake’s design and flavors. Cakes for Occasion describes the cake as “a sophisticated look featuring alternating tiers covered in white rosettes and smooth tiers, accented with navy and lace ribbons, and yellow sugar tulips.”

The Danvers Square bakery said it jumped at the opportunity to give back to the couple.

“They truly deserve this amazing experience and we are so happy to be a part of it,” said Christina Doucette, marketing manager for Cakes for Occasions.
