Danvers Flags at Half-Mast Today for Nathan Nissay

Find out why flags are flying at half-mast today in town.

The American flag outside Danvers Town Hall is flying at half-mast on Tuesday, Jan. 21 in honor of U.S. naval officer Nathan Nissay, who died late last month at a training center in New York.

Nissay, a 19-year-old from Dracut, was attending classes at the Naval Propulsion Training Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. when he died on Dec. 30. The cause of death remains unclear. He was a Petty Officer Third Class and graduate of Dracut High School.

Gov. Deval Patrick ordered all flags in Massachusetts be lowered to half-mast on Tuesday in honor of Nissay.
