Flash Flood Warning Includes Danvers Area

A flood advisory is in effect for the Danvers area until 3:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service says the Danvers area, along with a wide swath of Massachusetts, could experience flash floods Tuesday as a storm system moves through.

A flash flood watch was initially issued Tuesday morning with the possibility of "torrential" rains later in the day and significant flooding.

The Weather Service reported around 1:30 p.m., however, that Danvers and the North Shore might only see minor flooding into the evening, but still experience some heavy rainfall.

An advisory is in effect until 3:30 p.m.

"Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low-lying spots," said the weather service.

"Do not attempt to travel across flood roads," the weather service said.
