Kitchen Fire Closes Texas Roadhouse on Sunday

Nobody was injured in a smokey kitchen fire at Texas Roadhouse in Danvers Plaza on Sunday morning.

A kitchen fire at Texas Roadhouse Sunday morning closed the restaurant down temporarily.

The fire started from grease in the frialator and was contained to the hood, said Danvers Fire Chief Kevin Farrell. Smoke filled the restaurant.

The restaurant was scheduled to open for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday and the fire started at about 11 a.m.

Health Director Peter Mirandi said much of the restaurant's food had to be thrown out. He said it wasn't clear when the restaurant could reopen.

"It could have been much worse if the restaurant was open," Mirandi said, noting the fire filled the restaurant with smoke.

Nobody was injured and restaurant workers gathered in the parking lot of Danvers Plaza, where the restaurant is located off routes 1 and 95.
