Anthony's Deli: What Should Go Here Now?

What do you think should go into the former Anthony's Deli location?

closed its doors at the end of 2011, and the 2 High St. location is currently vacant.

Before Anthony's, the spot was the former home of the Sweet Heart Bake Shop.

Now, just for fun, we want you to tell us what you think should go there. If you had the funds and power to place any new business in the location, what would it be?

Let us know in the comments.

A Satellite "Danvers Police" community-policing office manned with an on-duty police officer.

I dont think any type of food place should be placed there, there is no parking and there is no convience to gettin to this corner.. But I do agree with M.MacDougall, should be a policing office. If I had the money and the power, it wouldnt be in this hole in the wall, where no one can get too easily.. I have seen fail after fail with this one area of Danvers... Stop with eateries in Danvers they dont survive in a small town like this..

What exactly would a police officer in a sattelite office do in the square?

If I had the funds I would love to open up my own photography studio there. Don't need much parking for that and good area but like above's comment, alot of businesses fail there do I'd be weary.

Nothing. There is ZERO reasonable parking there. Nothing will ever survive. I can't believe people have tried so many food shops there. Daily Harvest couldn't survive there. HORRIBLE location.

Nothing that requires parking! I would think office space but it would have to be a business that does NOT deal with the public in any way...

I think a penny candy/ice cream buffet store, targeting kids and teens. Teens like to walk, eliminates the lack of parking issues and kids and teens have money to spend.

@helen burns well IMHO, for starters it would be a great way for DPD to interact with residents and business owners...

an art gallery or a Winfrey's Candy...or both in one?

an art gallery with Winfrey's candy sold inside

Maybe in the 1950's. Cops are NOT our friends. They are MORE crooked than the criminals on the street. No thanks.

FAILURE, not fail

Apparently, you hadn't noticed that a real estate company (Vernon Martin) was there for over 30 years.

Kids and teens have money to spend?? Really?? Since when?
Joseph Anthony March 07, 2012 at 03:13 AM
Good one!
Jim J March 07, 2012 at 12:57 PM
No, I noticed, but that is hardly a business that relies on foot traffic and any kind of quick in and out client.
Jim J March 07, 2012 at 12:58 PM
Nothing of a retail nature will EVER survive there.
Jennifer Johnson March 07, 2012 at 01:06 PM
Knock it down and make it a parking lot. :-)

I would like to know what Mr. Anthony's basis of knowledge is as it pertains to the Police Department in Danvers.
Donna March 08, 2012 at 06:48 PM
how about a sushi restaurant, only food not up the square. def not another hair or nail place.
Jim J March 08, 2012 at 06:57 PM
Anything retail will fail because of parking there. Too difficult to run in for a quick takeout. Won't work. The last couple were good ideas that would have worked somewhere else.
Donna March 08, 2012 at 09:03 PM
parking in front of and behind cvs, would work
Jim J March 08, 2012 at 09:16 PM
No it won't. No one wants to cross those intersections just to get a sandwich. Location is horrible.
Donna March 08, 2012 at 09:33 PM
people have to cross the street to get nails and hair done and to eat any where in the square.
Jim J March 08, 2012 at 09:39 PM
The last 2 places there weren't bad. What killed them is the location. When you get your nails done, you have set aside an hour, or have an appointment, that is completely different than being able to pull over to the side of the road, run in, grab a sandwich, chips and soda and leave. That type of business will NEVER work there.
