Entertainment License Approved for Maple Street Tavern

Approved last night by the Danvers Board of Selectmen, entertainment will be coming soon to . 

Dean Borders, owner and manager of the newly opened downtown eatery, appealed to the Selectmen for a five-day entertainment license that would allow for a three-piece band or DJ.  

Borders said he hopes to have bands and an occasional DJ at night, as well as a possible jazz brunch on Sunday mornings.

Selectmen approved the license for Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30 through 12:30 a.m. as well as Sunday mornings from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. 

Selectman Dan Bennett questioned if 9:30 p.m. was too late to start entertainment. Borders said that it was an appropriate time to begin because at that point surrounding businesses and abutters have closed, so he will not be effecting their businesses. 

Bennett and Powers both noted that there is only one door to the inside of the restaurant, which could potentially cause a noise problem. Borders said he was not anticipating a problem. 

An abutters list was created by the and Borders, and all surrounding neighbors were notified of Borders' entertainment request. No one came to the meeting to speak against the proposal. 

Chairman Bill Clark called upon Police Chief Neil Ouellette to ask if there had been any incidents since . 

Ouellette said there was "nothing negative" to note, and the business was working cooperatively with the .
