Restaurants Serving Free Meals for Veterans on Monday

In observance of Veterans Day 2013, these restaurants are offering a free meal to those who have served our country.

Attention, veterans: more than 80 chain restaurants want to thank you for your service by giving you a free meal this Veterans Day.

On Monday, Nov. 11, head to a participating restaurant with proof of military service and they'll hook you up, according to restaurantnews.com, which has compiled a list of the places serving those who have served.

Here are the local participating restaurants and the deals being offered:

  • Applebee's: Free Thank You Meal menu. Choose from 7 oz. house sirloin, bacon cheddar cheeseburger, three-cheese chicken and sun-dried tomato penne, fiesta lime chicken, double crunch shrimp, chicken tenders platter or oriental chicken salad.
  • Boston Market: One free whole chicken with purchase of any Family Meal.
  • Carrabba's Italian Grill: Complimentary appetizer, no purchase necessary for military personnel in uniform or with military ID.
  • Chili's Bar & Grill: Free entree. Choose from Oldtimer with cheese, chicken crispers, margarita chicken, classic turkey sandwich, lighter choices grilled chicken salad, soup and salad combo, full flat bread (any flavor), pizza (any flavor), lunch combos (during lunch hours).
  • Denny's: Free all-you-can-eat pancakes.
  • Friendly's: Free breakfast.
  • Hooters: Free meal.
  • Olive Garden: Complimentary entree from a special menu, including Venetian apricot chicken, sausage and peppers rustica and spaghetti with meat sauce. Family dining with the service member receive a 10 percent discount on their meals as well. All entrees include freshly baked garlic bread sticks and choice of homemade soup or garden fresh salad. Olive Garden is also offering 10 percent discount for current members of the military and their families during the month of November.
  • On the Border: Free meal from the “Create Your Own Combo” menu.
  • Outback Steakhouse: Free Bloomin’ Onion and beverage. Also 10 percent off meals Nov. 12 through Dec. 31.
  • Texas Roadhouse: Free lunch (includes choice of Coca-Cola product, iced tea/sweet tea or coffee). Choose from 6 oz. sirloin steak with two sides, country fried chicken with two sides, country fried sirloin with two sides, pulled pork dinner with two sides, grilled pork chop (single) with two sides, All-American cheeseburger with fries, BBQ chicken sandwich with fries, pulled pork sandwich with fries, grilled chicken salad, or chicken critter salad.
  • TGI Friday's: Free lunch (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.).

Offers and participation may vary from location to location, so it's best to call ahead to confirm.

Here's another free local deal: Daily Harvest Cafe is offering a free small hot coffee to veterans Monday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Also, it's not a free meal, but it's certainly a hearty discount. Sylvan Street Grille, is inviting all veterans and active-duty military personnel to dine in Monday for 50 percent off food and non-alcoholic beverage as a thank-you meal.
