Two Danvers Big Boxes Plan Increased Holiday Hiring

Both Kohl's and Wal-Mart, with stores in Danvers, plan to hire more employees this holiday season than last year.

Both Kohl’s and Wal-Mart plan to hire tens of thousands of new associates before the holiday season, according to reports by the Associated Press on the Huffington Post.

Holiday hiring typically occurs during September and October. Both companies said its seasonal hiring is up over last year, the AP reported. Kohl’s said it is up 10 percent while Wal-Mart did not specify the amount of the increase.

Both nationwide big box retailers have locations in Danvers – Wal-Mart on Brooksby Village Way just off Route 114 and Kohl’s at the Liberty Tree Mall.

Kohl’s said it plans to hire 52,700 people for holiday season. Of that, 5,700 will be in its distribution center and the rest will be in its stores -  an average of 41 people per store.

For Wal-Mart, it expects to hire at least 50,000 associates in addition to giving its existing employee more hours.
