in Danvers has decreased slightly over the past year and remains lower
than the state average, according to the latest report from the state Bureau of
Labor Statistics. That's 930 people without a job in town.
Those numbers also show there are now 149 more employed workers in Danvers -- total jobs are 13,923.
The local jobless rate (seasonally unadjusted) in July was 6.3 percent, which is .2 percent lower than it was last July. The reported rate for this past June was also still 6.5 percent.
By comparison, the state average was 7 percent in July 2012 and was 7.2 percent last month, although it did drop from 7.4 percent in June.
The overall labor force has also grown from 14,726 in July 2012 to 14,853 this July.
The August 2013 unemployment rate, labor force data and jobs estimates for Massachusetts will be released on Sept. 19, while the local unemployment statistics will be released Sept. 24.
