This year’s theme -- “Mastering the Game” -- included topics like today’s economy, retail trends and the presence of e-commerce in the furniture industry. Director of Business Development for Circle Furniture and up-and-coming industry leader, Jessica Tubman, spoke specifically to the future of e-commerce in the industry:

“We need to stop thinking about retail channels as either e-tailers or brick and mortar. The future of our industry is likely to be a hybrid model. Brick and mortar stores need to position themselves now with e-commerce strategies in order to succeed in the future. Having an e-commerce platform is especially important in being prepared for the Millennial consumer base.”

Circle Furniture is a family-run business started by Tubman’s grandfather in the early 1950s. It has since grown from a small shop in Putnam Circle (now Putnam Square) in Cambridge to 6 stores located throughout the Greater Boston area.
