Rediscover The Ship Restaurant: Getting past the Maiden Voyage

The Ship Restaurant has been a Route 1 landmark for as long as any of us can remember, though we can assure you, this is not your father's or your grandfather's Ship.  Newly re-designed by the current restaurantuer, The Ship boasts bright, sunny dining rooms by day and cozy lighting by night.  Patrons can choose to relax in the dining room or at the beautiful marble bar. With full lunch and dinner menus, The Ship is a perfect destination for diners seeking an upscale menu without the upscale price, but it's also a great location for corporate luncheons, business meetings, private parties, showers, birthday celebrations and much more.  Equipped for parties of almost any size, The Ship has re-designed it's layout to include two smaller function rooms each comfortably seating up to forty (40) people, or you can choose the main dining room which can accommodate parties up to one hundred (100) guests, leaving the smaller dining rooms for private diners.  Weekly entertainment only adds to the overall dining experience featuring artists singing, jazz, soul, rhythm and blues, classic tunes and more! Executive Chef, Franco Caritano has created a masterpiece of a menu with heavy Italian undertones and not serving typical average fare, but boasting upscale dining prowess with starters like delectable ahi tuna tar tare or savory arugula salad with shaved parmesan.  A selection of gourmet paninis and pastas and staple seafood items such as clam chowder and crab cakes are sure to please.  With daily specials including seafood stuffed flounder or dinners like saffron risotto with seared sea scallops and asparagus, the menu has a taste for everyone.  Desserts like a Limoncello Flute or authentic Tiramisu coupled with a beautifully selected wine list and specialty martinis will leave you making plans to come back for more.    Rich in history, The Ship was established in May, 1925 by Captain James F. Wilkinson, a retired Sea Captain from Gloucester, who started a small refreshment stand on the Newburyport Turnpike right here in Lynnfield.  The business grew, but the Captain dreamt of a time when he would build his very own ship.  That dream came to fruition and although The Ship never "sailed the seven seas", we can say it is the most authentic ship ever built for dry land.  True to style, patrons ascend to the upper deck to find the Dining Rooms and peruse an amazing collection of nautical decor.  The Captain was fascinated by the beauty of sails and he could often be found on the bridge fashioning a sail boat from a piece of wood with a jack knife.  The Bridge is decorated with his charts and completed with his compass and bell which hangs just outside the window.  The tides of the sea cannot erase his memory.   For more information, contact Nichole Di Modica, Corporate Media & Operations Consultant,781-462-5956 or at nicholedimodica@aol.com.  For photos and menus, please visitwww.theshiprestaurant.com and LIKE them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/theshiprestaurant.  To join the email list, email theshiprestaurant@gmail.com
