STONEHAM THEATRE EXPLORES GOOD AND EVIL WITH A NEW ADAPTATION OF A CLASSIC TALE

Is there a good and evil side to everyone?  And can we always tell the difference?  Stoneham Theatre is exploring the idea of good versus evil with a new adaptation of the classic story, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.   Following the success of other thrillers such as Double Indemnity, Strangers on a Train, and Gaslight, Stoneham Theatre is proud to produce Jeffrey Hatcher’s new adaptation of the classic tale of Dr. Henry Jekyll who undertakes experiments aimed to cure mankind of its basic instincts.  When the experiments on himself produce the savage and uncontrollable Edward Hyde, Dr. Jekyll comes face-to-face with the very nature of good and evil.    “Hatcher’s adaptation suggests that good and evil exist in all of us and blend with the various aspects of our personalities,” Director Caitlin Lowans shared.  “This idea is highlighted with one actor playing Dr. Jekyll while the rest of the cast takes turns portraying Hyde.”Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, directed by Lowans, stars Benjamin Evett (Stoneham Theatre debut) as Dr. Henry Jekyll, Esme Allen (Stoneham Theatre debut) as Elizabeth, Cheryl McMahon (Seven Rabbits on a Pole), Dale Place (A Christmas Carol), Alexander Platt (Stoneham Theatre debut), and Nick Sulfaro (The Full Monty).Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde opens on Thursday, October 24, 2013 and runs through Sunday, November 10, 2013.  Show times are Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 3:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sundays at 2:00pm.  There is a post-show talkback on the Sunday, October 27th performance.  For tickets, call the Stoneham Theatre Box Office at (781) 279-2200 or visit www.stonehamtheatre.org.
