The Olweus Bullying Program

Danvers, MA, March, 2014: Last month, Danvers Community Access Television partnered with the Danvers Public Schools to create a program that highlights the Olweus Bullying Program. In this documentary, Professionals from all over the district explain what and how the program works. Robin D’Antona, an Olweus Consultant who has been working closely with the Danvers community, offered insight on what bullying is and what the program will do to prevent negative behavior. Dr. Mary Tatem, the Director of Student Services, spoke to the impact of the program to the special education program at Danvers. Kimberly Silva, the Guidance Counselor at Riverside, discussed ways the elementary students have been displaying positive behaviors because of this program. Matthew Bencal, a Special Education Teacher at DHS, spoke about the dynamics of bullying and how it affects the students. Christine Purcell, the Guidance Counselor at the Holten Richmond Middle School talked about the various team building projects the students create together that have a positive message and is reflective of a world without bullying.
