5 Things To Know on Dec. 5: Open Forum with School Leaders

Welcome to “5 Things,” your daily resource for community events, happenings in town and other little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

1. Dropping: The temperature will actually drop throughout the day on Wednesday, starting in the 50s and ending up in the 40s by evening. The day will also start out with a chance of showers and include gusty winds.

2. Early Release: Wednesday is an early release day for Danvers public schools. Holten-Richmond Middle School and Danvers High School get out at 12:45 and the elementary schools are dismissed at 1:15 p.m.

3. International Affairs Breakfast: The Danvers-based North Shore Chamber of Commerce hosts Patrick Binns, Consul General of Canada to New England, at a breakfast at Ipswich Country Club on Wednesday morning. It starts at 7:15 a.m. and costs $35 for Chamber members and $55 for non-members.

4. Longevity Connection: The grand opening for The Longevity Connection, a part of North Shore Elder Services, happens all day at its Danvers office. The Longevity Connection is designed as a “one-stop-shop” for products and resources for senior citizens. Wednesday’s event runs 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 152 Sylvan St.

5. School Committee: School leaders are hosting an open forum on Wednesday night with the School Committee and school district administration in the library at Holten-Richmond Middle School at 7 p.m. The event is being hosted by the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee and in addition to the School Committee will include Superintendent Lisa Dana and Director of Student Services Mary Tatum.
