Yellowjackets Dominate At Hot Cocoa Classic

Coach Denisco described the team as hardworking individuals and team players.

The traveled to Westfield, MA for the Hot Cocoa Classic last month, where they dominated competition and took home first place.

The team's head coach Bailey Denisco said she feels lucky to be able to coach this particular group of talented gymnasts.

“These girls are not only hard-working, but they are very dedicated and determined individuals,” she said. “They not only strive to improve personally, but they support each other and work together to improve as a team. I absolutely love my job and it is because of them. Watching them develop as gymnasts, and as individuals is a blessing. I am lucky to be able to coach such a wonderful group of girls. Their dedication and motivation makes me love what I do.”

The team, comprised of nine through eleven year olds, have all been involved with the program between two and six years.

Their coaches said these young ladies are extremely committed to their sport, putting in between six to nine hours of practice in each week, depending on their level.

Improvements to the facility under new owner Coach Peter Kormann, such as the new spring floor and vaulting table have been a huge factor to the teams most recent successes. Program manager Carrie Clarke said, “the team loves the new facility.  The new spring floor was a great addition and the girls have improved a lot with their tumbling since it has been put in; it showed in their last meet!”

At the competition, the Level 3 girls finished in first place, Level 4 placed fourth, and Level 5 in sixth place.  Georgetown native Emerson Nicholas in Prep Op got third place All Around, which is a combined score for all events, Vault, Bars, Beam & Floor.
