Up to Three Inches of Snow Expected on Monday

With schools closed and Monday being a holiday, commute shouldn't be too difficult.

Thursday and Friday were just too good to be true.

After hitting 60 degrees late last week, the area got a rude return to winter with howling winds and bitter cold Saturday, and now there could be a couple inches of snow Monday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting between one and three inches of snow Monday in Danvers. Snow is likely to begin falling after 4 a.m. and will continue falling into the afternoon, according to the weather service.

The impact on the commute should be minimal, as schools are closed for vacation and many businesses are closed for the Presidents Day holiday.

This weather system comes at a time when the town has already exceeded its snow and ice budget by $130,000, according to Town Manager.

The snow and ice removal budget was set at $650,000, but the town manager has said the town can continue to spend on snow removal even though they have exceeded the budgeted amount.

Danvers will use money from other parts of the Department of Public Works' budget. The town is also hopeful that it can receive some funding from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency to help pay for snow removal.
