Wings Of Freedom Tour Returns To Beverly Municipal Airport

The Collings Foundation’s Wings of Freedom Tour featuring rare World War II aircrafts will be returning to the Beverly Municipal Airport from September 20 to September 23. In honor of our WWII Veterans, The Wings of Freedom Tour brings an extremely rare bomber and fighter aircraft for local living history display as Part of 110-city Nationwide Tour.

Also participating in the tour will be the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine” WWII Heavy Bomber, Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft” WWII Heavy Bomber, P-51 Mustang fighter “Betty Jane”, PT-17 Stearman, and T-6 Texan WWII trainer aircraft. This rare opportunity allows visitors to explore and learn more about these unique and rare treasures of aviation history. The B-17 is one of only ten in flying condition in the United States. The B-24J and Full Dual Control P-51C Mustang are the sole remaining examples of their type flying in the World.

A donation of $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12 is requested for access to up-close viewing and tours through the inside of the aircraft. Visitors can also take a 30-minute flight aboard these rare aircraft. Flights on either the B-17 or B-24 are $425 per person. P-51 flights are $2,200 for a half hour and $3,200 for a full hour. PT-17 Stearman flights are $230 for 30 minutes and T-6 Texan flights are $450 for 45 minutes. Hours of ground tours and display are: Friday, Sept. 20, 2-5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21 and 22, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Monday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m.-noon.
