11th Annual Blessing of the Animals will Feature Rev. Thea Keith-Lucas

We are delighted that the Rev. Thea Keith-Lucas has accepted our invitation to preside over the 11th annual Blessing of the Animals, sponsored by All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore, Danvers, and the Perfect Paws Pet Ministry. The Blessing takes place at Endicott Park, on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Rev. Thea, who is now the Episcopal Chaplain at MIT, and who served as the parish rector for six years, has been instrumental in making the Blessing a hallmark event for animal lovers throughout the region.

This year, the 11th anniversary of the Blessing, continues the tradition of this much-loved North Shore community event, that has attracted anywhere from 150 to 300 people and their animal companions on the first Saturday of each October -- the Feast of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals.

The Blessing is a joyful gathering during which the priest lays hands on each animal and offers a prayer and a blessing to celebrates the human-animal bond and our love and respect for all of God's creatures.

The Blessing is free, it's open to all faiths, and welcomes all household and domesticated animals and their people. We hope you'll join us.
