Two Scholarship Funds Now Established in Memory of Slain Teacher

One scholarship will be for students from Danvers High and one will be for students looking to pursue teaching.

There are now two scholarship funds that have been established to carry on the memory of slain Danvers High math teacher Colleen Ritzer.

One is at People's United Bank in Danvers for students from Danvers High, while the other is set up with the Essex County Community Foundation.

"To carry on the legacy of our beautiful daughter and sister Colleen and her passion for teaching, we have established the Colleen Ritzer Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship will be awarded to students who are pursuing a degree in education so they can continue her legacy of making a difference in a student's life," reads a message on webpage for the fund.
