Danvers' Dominick Cruises to 1st at EMass Meet

Junior Catalina Dominick and senior James Bailey both qualified to move on to the All-State Meet Nov. 16. Dominick's time was also the second fastest for all female runners that day.

Danvers High junior Catalina Dominick turned in another top performance at this past weekend's Eastern Mass. cross country meet and left the rest of her fellow Division 4 runners in the dust.

In fact, her time of 17:56 was the second fastest for all female runners that day except for Bishop Feehan's Abby McNulty, who covered the 5K course in 17:39 in the Division 3 race.

Dominick finished more than 30 seconds ahead of Marblehead's Janaya Randall at a blistering 5:47 pace on average. As a team, the Falcons finished 8th with 222 points.

The rest of the squad finished as follows: Alison Barker (24th, 20:32), Payton Johnson (60th, 21:30), Jessica Driscoll (65th, 21:38), Lindsay MacInnis (72nd, 21:51), Ciara Mallon (121st, 23:46) and Rachel Vazquez (122nd, 23:49).

On the boys' side, the top finisher was senior James Bailey in 27th at 16:51 and the team placed 14th with 380 points.

The rest of the squad finished as follows: Kevin Hebert (46th, 17:23), Ryan Heber (88th, 18:19), Colin Marie (98th, 18:27), Michael Neff (121st, 19:01), Jay Calcagno (142nd, 19:43) and Zachary Powers (146th, 20:04).

The EMass divisional championships were held at the Wrentham Development Center on Nov. 9. Only Dominick and Bailey qualified for the All-State Meet, which is coming up Nov. 16 at the Gardner Municipal Golf Course.
