Fellow Assumption Grad Creates Bracelets in Memory of Colleen Ritzer

The hot pink wristbands bear the phrase "Find Good In Every Day."

Katelyn Mahoney is making some special bracelets in memory of her fellow college graduate and teacher, Colleen Ritzer.

Ritzer, a Danvers High math teacher, was murdered at the school two weeks ago.

Mahoney teaches in Newton and Lexington and graduated from Assumption College with Ritzer. In recent days, Mahoney started a Facebook group to spread the word of hot pink wristbands she's having made with the phrase "Find Good In Every Day."

It's a phrase Ritzer is now fondly remembered by Mahoney.

"Colleen had a great, positive view of life and made sure to find the good in every single day," writes Mahoney, explaining that the quotation was posted by Ritzer on her Twitter account.

"Her caption on this tweet was to find the good in every day. Far too often do we, as humans, focus on the bad we can find in every day. I strongly believe that Colleen had a fabulous idea in looking for the good, something that we should all consider trying on a daily basis," Mahoney writes.

She says Ritzer dedicated her life to her students and she had the pleasure of working together with Ritzer in college -- both budding teachers received their bachelor's degrees in math with concentrations in education.

"Colleen was, by far, one of the greatest people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. Her smile lit up our classroom every single day. Colleen, since her death, has been often recognized as a 'ray of light,' one that, without a doubt, will be missed," Mahoney writes.

If you'd like to order a bracelet -- they're $5 each -- email Mahoney at colleenritzermemorialbracelets@gmail.com. She says all proceeds will benefit the Colleen Ritzer Memorial Scholarship Fund.
