Danvers Town Christmas Tree Arrives Monday

This year's tree will be a 30-foot tall blue spruce donated by John Ferguson. It should arrive in Danvers Square Monday morning.

The town's Christmas tree will arrive in Danvers Square Monday morning.

The Department of Public Works says the Forestry Division will be at the home of John J. Ferguson on North Street to remove a 30-foot blue spruce Ferguson has donated to the town as this year's tree.

The town crew will arrive at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2 and truck the towering spruce down to the square in a flatbed for installation. The process takes around two hours. The lights will then be strung by Danvers Electric and the tree decorated by DPW workers.

The tree won't be lit until the annual ceremony Dec. 7 at the 15th Annual Holiday Festival. The lighting ceremony with Santa Claus, who arrives by fire truck, will be at 5 p.m. The festival starts at 2 p.m.
