Small Bridge Memorial Honors Crash Victims Bouchard and Wells
Elise Bouchard of Danvers and Pamela Wells of Hamilton succumbed to their injuries after being struck by a vehicle on a bridge in Hampton, N.H. on Saturday.
A small, colorful bouquet of flowers has been laid on the northern end of the Neil R. Underwood Memorial Bridge in Hampton, N.H. in honor of the two Massachusetts cyclists killed during a non-competitive ride on Saturday.
Pamela Wells, 60, of South Hamilton, and Elise Bouchard, 52, of Danvers, were pronounced dead at the hospital Saturday after being struck by a vehicle that crossed into their lane.
Uwe Uhmeyer, 60, of Essex, and Margo Heigh, 54, of Danvers, were also hit by the vehicle, but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Family members of the victims — all four of whom are connected — have publicly mourned the injuries and deaths, which police are still investigating.
Police have ruled the driver of the vehicle, Darriean Hess, 19, of Seabrook, N.H. caused the crash. Hess was arrested around 3 p.m. Tuesday on two Class B felony counts of negligent homicide and two Class B felony counts of second degree assault.
Hess is expected to be arraigned on the charges Wednesday morning in Hampton District Court. The time hasn't yet been set for the court appearance, although officials said it will likely occur at 11 a.m.
