NSCC Students Benefit From New Danvers Tutoring Center

Thanks to the North Shore Community College Foundation, students on the College’s Danvers Campus now have an expanded, state-of-the-art Tutoring Center in which to learn. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held recently to reveal the 2,125 square foot space which features 17 new computers, four technology-equipped group study areas, and two adjustable ADA stations. The Center, housed in the Math & Science building which was formerly the Enrollment Center, brings together all tutoring which had previously been located at various locations throughout the campus.

Thomas Mahoney, NSCC Coordinator of Learning Resources, said, “We are so grateful to the NSCC Foundation for providing the funding to refurbish and renovate this space and for providing the technology to equip it. The students who come here seeking tutoring have accepted a challenge. They may be experiencing difficulties and want to get to the next stage in their lives. We are here to serve and support them.”

He continued, “This new Center is a tremendous source of pride for the college and the students are very happy. It is a dream fulfilled.”

The College looks forward to making similar improvements to its tutoring space on its Lynn Campus through the renovation of the McGee Building. The college recently received $21 million for this project along with a new expansion.  The Lynn and Danvers Centers combined held over 6,600 tutoring sessions last year.
