Funeral Services Announced for Colleen Ritzer

A wake and funeral Mass for Colleen Ritzer will be held in her hometown of Andover at St. Augustine Church, according to information released Friday by the Archdiocese of Boston.

The Danvers High School math teacher was murdered Tuesday, allegedly by one of her students, 14-year-old Philip Chism.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday at the church from 3:30-8:30 p.m. and a funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. St. Augustine is located at 43 Essex St. in Andover.

"Please continue to pray for Colleen, her family and all those who mourn her passing. May she rest in peace," said Secretary for Communications & Public Affairs Terrence Donilon in the announcement.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to the Colleen Ritzer Memorial Scholarship.

"Colleen adored spending time with her family; she was an amazing daughter and big sister," Ritzer's obituary reads. "She loved attending family gatherings and parties no matter the location, as long as it meant spending as much time with family as possible. She was always thinking of others first."
