Obituary: Andrew Koban, Lifelong Danvers Resident and World War II Veteran

Andrew Koban, 92, of Danvers, beloved husband of the late Patricia (Condon) Koban, died Friday evening, June 13th at Ledgewood Nursing Home and Rehab in Beverly. 

Born in Danvers, he was the son of the late Anthony and Dora (Chuckran) Koban. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of the former Holten High School. He continued his education at Franklin Institute earning his electrical license. 

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. He was stationed on the USS McCoy Reynolds - 440 Destroyer Escort. His devotion to his country and fellow seamen proved to be the most memorable experience of his life and shaped him into the quality man he was. 

Mr. Koban had been employed at the former United Shoe Machine Corporation of Beverly until the time of his retirement in 1984. 

A lifelong resident of the town of Danvers, Andrew enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His time serving his country was impactful during his whole life and he enjoyed going to his WWII Crew Reunions. 

Andrew is survived by his sister, Eleanor Blanchette of Danvers, his brother Daniel Koban of Beverly and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Vassell, John and George Koban, Anna Larrabee, Eva Russell, Esther Young and Mary Koban.

His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Route 62) Danvers, Thursday, June 19 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in Andrew's memory to the Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
