Obituary: Eugene E. Mazzie, Peabody Lions Club Past President

Eugene E. Mazzie, formerly of Danvers and Peabody, passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2014 at Avow Hospice, Naples, FL. 

Born in Malden on April 23, 1926, he attended schools in Everett.

As a member of the Greatest Generation, he enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 17, proudly serving in the South Pacific during World War II, which included occupation duty in Nagasaki and also served during the Korean Conflict.

Retiring from the Bell System after 38 years of service, he enjoyed a second career with TASC in Reading. A longtime member of the Peabody Lions Club, he served as past president, as well as a member of the board of the Peabody chapter of the American Red Cross.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary, and his children, Mark of Malvern, PA, Gregory (Donna) of Brunswick, GA, Timothy (Kim) of Ashland and Elizabeth Branca (Michael) of Matthews, NC. He leaves nine greatly loved grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held from the Mackey Funeral Home in Danvers with a viewing on Sunday, Feb. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Annunciation on Monday, Feb. 17 at 9 a.m.
