Obituary: Ida Capano

Born in Italy, Ida Capano lived in Danvers for 29 years.

Ida S. (Lecci) Capano, 88, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 26, 2012.  She was the wife of the late Vincent Capano, Jr., with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.

Born in Gaeta, Italy, on Dec. 26, 1923, she was the daughter of Pasquale and Elena (DeMille) Lecci.  She was raised in Gaeta, Italy and came to the United States in 1939, immigrating to Somerville, where she resided until her marriage.  She lived for many years in Revere where she raised her family, and had been a Danvers resident for nearly twenty years.

Mrs. Capano had worked for many years as a wedding seamstress for Priscilla of Boston.  A parishioner of Saint Richard Church, she was dedicated her family and her faith.

She is survived by her children, Anne Carroll and her husband Robert of Danvers, with whom she resided, and Paul Capano and his wife Thresia of Delaware, her grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, and Jillian Carroll of Danvers and Nicholas and Julianna Capano of Delaware, a sister, Tina Bevilaqua of Buzzards Bay,  and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister, Eulalia Carnovale.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 10AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers and the Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.  As requested, there are no visiting hours.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society of Sts. Cosmas and Damian,  17 Porter St, Cambridge, MA 02141, or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PO Box 845945, Boston, MA 02284.
