Obituary: John M. Brennan, 62, Danvers High Graduate

John M. Brennan, 62, passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2014. He was the loving husband of Paulette “Polly” (Hourihan) Brennan with whom he shared 31 years of marriage. 

John was born in Salem on February 27, 1952. He was the son of the late John L. Brennan and Doris (Caron) (Brennan) Jwanowski. He was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Danvers High School, Class of 1970. John went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College.

He had been employed as a software engineer at Textron Systems for more than 30 years. John enjoyed fishing, boating, fly tying, gardening and woodworking. He loved his 1967 Chevy Chevelle and cheering on New England sports teams.

Besides his wife Polly, he is survived by his mother, Doris and her husband Henry Jwanowski of Florida, his siblings, Patricia and her husband John Skelley of Florida, Kathleen and her husband Mark Johnson of Danvers, Mark Brennan and his husband Mark Nickels of Mashpee and Kevin Brennan of Middleton, three nieces, Linda Stassen, Taylor and Devin Johnson and several grandnieces and nephews. 

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 9 at 9 a.m. in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Hobart St., Danvers. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in John’s name to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA, 02284.
