Obituary from the Murphy Funeral Home:

Kevin Jones of Danvers, and formerly of Marblehead, died on April 14, 2014.

He was born on the 5th day of the 5th month of 1950, and always considered five his lucky number.

Kevin was raised in Marblehead and attended the Devereux School and the Star of the Sea Grammar School. He was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School and the University of Massachusetts. He also studied at North Shore Community College, Bentley College, and Boston State College. Kevin’s graduate studies were at the University of Southern California.

Kevin was certified as a teacher, principal, Notary Public, Bail Commissioner and Justice of the Peace. Kevin was at his best helping others, and found his 32-year career as Assistant Clerk Magistrate of Courts in the Superior court of Essex County very rewarding.

As a boy, Kevin first honed his aquatic skills at Devereux Beach and was later rumored to be one of the Atlantic’s most celebrated body surfers. He was a lover of numbers, Boston Globe journalism, fried clams, holiday cartography, and was the North Shore’s premier clam chowder culinarian.

As everyone who knew him quickly learned, Kevin had a love for life and his family.

Kevin is predeceased by his father Leo H. Jones, the former Essex County Register of Deeds, mother Anna Pauline Jones, and brother Martin Leo Jones. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Brennan Jones and his three children, Dr. Patrick Leo, Christopher Luke, and Emily Katherine. He is also survived by his beloved brother Paul Francis Jones of Marblehead and cousins Barbara Jones, Mary Jones Wright, and Thomas and Francis Hartnett. Kevin leaves behind many loving members of the Brennan and Lamb families. He loved you all, God Bless.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, April 21 from 4-8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., in Salem. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, MA on Tuesday, April 22. Interment to follow at Star of the Sea Cemetery in Marblehead.
