OBITUARY: World War II Vet, Local Historian Rose Garlin Dies at 93

Rose Garlin served with the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II, was a longtime Peabody resident and a librarian at the Hogan Regional Center in Danvers.

Rose Marie (Brown) Garlin died Jan. 26 at the Brentwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Danvers (formerly Radius) following a lengthy illness, according to her obituary. She was 93.

Garlin was originally from Cleveland, Ohio and first moved to Peabody in 1946 after serving with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. She lived in the city for many years before moving to Middleton and was a member of the historical societies in both communities.

She was also a librarian for several years at the Hogan Regional Center in Danvers and a member of the Essex County Marine Corps League.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Home at 28 Elm St. in Danvers. Visiting hours will be held prior to that, starting at 5 p.m., at the funeral home.
