Dangerous loss of privacy

Stop and Shop Rte 1 Danvers Ma  now sell wine
When paying for this you must show the cashier an ID
It is then put into a scanner sent to a third party to read your
information and be sure you are over 21  This is for every purchase
from anyone.  Now a third party has a copy of all the information on
my MA license. This is not acceptable .
When I went to management to check this out I was told "it is not
stored anywhere"
Then I was told it was necessary for S&S  to buy
this program to get a liquor license from the town.
THEN in this program "that is not stored anywhere" they explained how it is a safety feature, if someone purchases multible times in one day they can refuse to sell to them thus protecting them and the public.  This is just absurd.
In todays climate with all the fraud and ID theft our  drivers
licence or ID or for that matter any state issued ID should not be
put into a computer program for unknowns to have accesss to.
The cashiers who handle the transactions should be able to
visually look at the ID and be sure the person is eligible to
make the liquor purchase.
Is there any way to follow up on this and get more information
about what is going on here?
Thanks
