Armed Robbery Reported at Bank Inside Stop & Shop

The Citizens Bank inside Stop & Shop off Route 62 and 1 was reportedly robbed by a masked man.

The Citizens Bank inside Shop & Shop at the Danvers Plaza was robbed by a masked man Wednesday afternoon.

According to scanner reports, a bank teller notified police around 2:45 p.m. that a male approached the employee, threatened that he had a gun and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was described as a thin, white male, in his 20s or 30s, wearing a mask that covered most of his face and a blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers. He also had facial hair, possibly a goatee.

According to scanner reports, no weapon was actually shown during the robbery and the man fled the store on foot. Police quickly secured the building and began searching the general area. A state police K-9 unit was requested.

Scanner reports said some money was found outside Staples, which is next to the main plaza.
