Cash Stolen From Home in Break-In

The following are excerpts from reports in the Danvers police log from Tuesday through Wednesday.

May 24

• Anthony Greeley, 25, of 65 Newbury St., Danvers, was arrested at 7:34 a.m. at that address () on a warrant from Lowell District Court on charges of larceny and forgery.
• An employee at the on High Street reported at 9:24 a.m. that someone stole a stack of newspapers that were delivered outside the store earlier that morning.
• Police responded to a report of a break-in to a home on Jersey Lane at 11:30 a.m. The caller said someone broke a door in between 8 and 11 a.m. and stole cash. The incident is still under investigation, but nothing else appeared missing at the time.
• Mark Blackburn, 48, of Derry, N.H., was arrested at 2:17 p.m. at Motel 6 on an active warrant from Salem. The charges were for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, attempted murder and larceny.
• A water break was reported around 10:30 p.m. on Burroughs Street and Public Works crews were dispatched to the scene. Water was shut down by 11:15 p.m., which affected all of Burroughs, Rice, Larchmont and John streets – 39 homes, according to the DPW. The pipe break was a longitudinal crack starting at a bell, which also affected service to a house, the DPW said. Two six-inch fittings and four feet of six-inch pipe were used to make the repair. Water service was restored to all homes by 3:30 a.m.
• An officer was flagged down in the parking lot at the at 11:36 p.m. and informed there was a man who was possibly intoxicated parked outside the entrance to the movie theater. Police said the man, a 29-year-old from Saugus, was in fact intoxicated and became combative when approached by the officer, yelling at him. He was placed into protective custody.

May 25

• Police responded to a report of an assault at at 2 a.m. No further details were available.
• At 6:33 a.m., police responded to a complaint of a commercial truck emptying a trash Dumpster at the corner of Elm and Page streets. The workers were in violation of the town ordinance prohibiting trash pickup before 7 a.m. and were issued a fine.
• A caller at 150A Andover St. reported at 10:48 a.m. that someone tried to break into the building overnight. Pry marks were found outside a side door entrance.
• Police responded to a report of a domestic incident involving assault and battery at a Bishop Drive residence at 2:32 p.m. The female victim did not require medical attention and the male assailant was not on the premises. Police said the case is still under investigation and may result in charges being filed.
• Police received a report of a stolen Dump truck from the commercial plaza at 67 High St. at 3:54 p.m. No further details were available.
