Citizens Police Academy Beginning Sept. 24

Danvers Police are trying to spread the word about their upcoming Citizens Academy.

The Danvers Police Department is inviting the public to apply for the 10-week Citizens Police Academy that begins on Sept. 24. 

In the citizens academy, students will learn about all aspects of police work, including "firearms and Use of Force, criminal law, crime analysis, Domestic Violence and the legal process."

And if interested, students will be allowed to fire a handgun under the supervision of the Danvers Police firearms instructor. 

To receive an application, contact Sergeant Robert Bettencourt in Community Services at 978-774-1213 ext. 134 and an application will be sent to you.

Applications are also available at the Danvers Police Station or available for download at danverspolice.com.
