Peabody and Danvers officers arrested a 22-year-old Danvers man on Friday night for impersonating a police officer.

Police arrested a 22-year-old Danvers man late Friday night for impersonating a police officer.

Peabody Police received a call from a resident at the Avalon at Crane Brook complex at 11:24 p.m. of a man jogging around one of the buildings – the 26-acre campus is located in both Peabody and Danvers off Route 114. According to police, the jogger was described as wearing a T-shirt that read “Police” and was possibly carrying a firearm.

Danvers police said Leppanen was wearing a holster. It was unclear from the initial report whether he was in fact carrying a firearm; there are no further details available at this time.

Leppanen was arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer and disorderly conduct.
