Danvers Police Arrest 4 for B&E at Town-Owned Building

Four apparent burglars were arrested early Monday morning, shortly after midnight, after they set off an alarm at the Burroughs Street property.

Danvers police collared four would-be burglars in the wee hours Monday morning after they set off an alarm at town-owned property on Burroughs Street.

Officer Justin Jones responded to an alert from a fence motion detector at 2 Burroughs St. at approximately 12:41 a.m. The building houses the business divisions for Public Works and Danvers Electric.

Four people were then arrested -- two from New Hampshire and two from Lynn -- on several charges.

  • Katelyn O'Neil, 19, of Rochester, N.H., was charged with breaking and entering for a felony and trespassing.
  • Kimberly Gregware, 39, of 45 Centre St., Lynn, was charged with possession of Class B and Class C drugs, breaking and entering for a felony, trespassing and possession of burglary tools.
  • Ronald Cairnie, 24, of 57 Centre St., Lynn, was charged with possession of burglary tools and trespassing.
  • Kenneth Smith, 19, of Seabrook, N.H., was charged with trespassing, breaking and entering for a felony and possession of burglary tools.

Sgt. Olivia Silva, the department's spokesperson, said all four people were arraigned on the aforementioned charges in Salem District Court on Tuesday. She said two pairs of bolt cutters were found in their possession.

Silva said the foursome were apprehended before they were able to enter the building. As for why they might have targeted the municipal building, Silva noted there are metals, piping and other materials inside.
