The was honored for their traffic safety efforts and law enforcement during the 2010 year at the annual Massachusetts Law Enforcement Challenge (MLEC) Awards Ceremony in Devens, MA.
The department, along with 19 other local towns and cities and the Mass. State Police, were recognized for their work in reducing motor vehicle related fatalities, injuries, and economic losses to the state.
“Traffic safety is a core mission of the Danvers Police Department, and we are fortunate to have so many officers dedicated to it,” said Chief Neil Ouellette in a release.
Danvers Police received the bronze ranking and according to a release, "elected keychain giveaways from the nearly $30,000 in donated prizes by vendors."
The Secretary of Public Safety and Security Mary Elizabeth Heffernan, Superintendent of the State Police Colonel Marian McGovern, the President of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, and federal, state and community officials were all in attendance to celebrate the departments' accomplishments.
