Driver in Head-On Crash to be Issued Summons

One of the drivers in Wednesday's serious car crash in Danvers will be issued a summons.

One of the driver’s involved in will be issued a summons for operating negligently.

The crash happened at 3:55 p.m. in front of the when a blue 1999 Toyota Rav 4 headed eastbound crossed the centerline and slammed head-on into a white 2012 Mercedes GLK350 that was headed westbound, according to Chief Neil Ouellette.

Police did not release the name of the driver who was issued a summons – and was also injured – or anyone else involved in the crash. There were two people in the Toyota and one in the Mercedes and Ouellette said the injuries to all three were considered “fairly serious,” based on the observations of officers on the scene.

The driver and passenger of the Toyota were not wearing their seatbelts, Ouellette said, and it was not clear whether the driver of the Mercedes had their seatbelt on.

The crash slowed traffic for about an hour along the busy stretch of road. The road was down to one lane and westbound drivers were directed down Forest Street while eastbound drivers passed by the scene.

Both cars were towed away and rescue crews, including the and , cleared the scene just before 5 p.m.
