Driver Overturns Car on Valley Road

Police and Fire searched the area for the driver who left the scene. Police have since located the driver.

Danvers Police and State Police searched two towns for the driver of a car whose car overturned on Valley Road (Route 35) near Connors Farm early Friday morning.

Danvers Police and Fire responded to Valley Road shortly before 3 a.m. Friday after a report of an overturned car.

When police arrived, they found the car, but the driver had left the scene. Police don't believe the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Police closed the road during the investigation and called in State Police, which sent a K-9 unit. The K-9 tracked the driver’s scent to the intersection of Routes 35 and 97, but lost the trail.

Meanwhile, firefighters searched the area with a thermal imaging camera hoping to find the driver.

They identified the driver and tracked the person’s phone. The last time the driver’s cell phone “pinged” was in Topsfield, but police were unable to locate the driver at that time.

Late Friday morning, Danvers Police said they have since located the driver. Police are currently investigating the accident. There is no word as to injuries or potential charges at this point.
