Female Hospitalized After Truck Crashes Into Side of House

The accident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday on Bridge near the Danvers and Beverly line.

One female was taken to a local hospital Tuesday night after a truck crashed into a house on Bridge Street.

According to scanner reports, the accident occurred just before 10 p.m. The Fire Department's Engine 3 and Fire/Rescue vehicle responded to the scene first and said the truck hit a home at 7 Bridge St. along with a utility pole, which was on fire.

Police and fire were on scene for several minutes before a female was taken to the hospital by ambulance. According to scanner reports, officers were "running tests" at the scene.

Police said that in addition to the damaged telephone pole, five electric meters connected to the house were also smashed. The power was turned off at one point to the home and both a building inspector and Danvers Electric were called to the scene.

Meanwhile, Bridge Street was shut down at Bradstreet Avenue and traffic was diverted down the side street, according to scanner reports. The scene is near the intersection with Elliott Street and very close to the border with Beverly.

As of 11 p.m., crews were still at the scene and a wrecker had been called to remove the truck.
