The is holding its Annual Bike Auction on Saturday, April 2 in the rear parking area of the police station (rain or shine).
Officers recovered approximately 50 different bicycles over the past year, all of which remain unclaimed; perhaps your missing bike is one of them.
Police Sgt. Robert Bettencourt says many of the bikes that end up at the station were stolen and simply await the rightful owners to come pick them up. In fact, if your bicycle was stolen, you should go to the station before the auction is held to see if it was recovered. Proof of ownership is necessary.
Beyond that, the auction is a chance to potentially pick up a good bike for cheap, Bettencourt said.
There will also be other miscellaneous items for sale at the auction, such as radios or other odd and ends officers have recovered during the year.
The viewing of the bikes and articles for sale will be from 9:30-9:50 a.m. The auction begins promptly at 10 a.m. Cash and checks only.
