It was good that the cops were able to get a hold of the old man. We really do not know when danger happens and to whom danger can happen. Even a police offer who can save himself was no excuse to dangerous and unpredictable incidents like this, how much more to little ones who cannot seem to save themselves. As a parent of a 9 year-old, I always strive to ensure safety to my kids anytime and anywhere. Luckily after reading articles online, I found a perfect solution that has been working perfectly for my son and me and my husband as well; http://www.radicalparenting.com/2011/08/07/awesome-phone-safety-device-for-teens-safekidzone/

In astounds me how little time convicted level 3 sex offenders spend in prison.
