Salem Man Injured in Route 1 Accident

State Police report that a 30-year-old Salem man suffered minor injuries in a one-car crash that diverted Route 1 traffic for a time.

A 30-year-old Salem man was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries after his car struck and snapped a pole early Saturday evening on Route 1 in Danvers.

According to initial reports, the southbound side of the highway near Supino's was shut down temporarily as the pole was held up only by wires. The incident occurred further down the highway near Dayton Street and Endicott Green.

State police reported in a followup conversation with Patch that traffic was diverted for a time onto Route 62 in Danvers as work crews took care of the pole and some low-hanging wires at the scene.

The one-vehicle accident reportedly occurred around 7 p.m. The driver was the lone occupant in the vehicle.
